"It's My Blood Down There"
(Neville Brothers/Les Freres Parents from the album "Konbit: Burning Rhythms of Haiti")
ImageThe global response these past few weeks to the devastation in Haiti has truly been impressive and inspiring. However, long after the media coverage moves on to the next big story, the need to send food, water and medical supplies to this poverty-stricken country will persist for weeks and months to come. That's why pianist Sidney Kirk and his wife, Virginia, are organizing a special gathering of Memphis musicians to raise money for this continuing effort.
On Saturday evening, February 6 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., the stage at the Center for Southern Folklore Hall will be filled with some of the best jazz, R&B, gospel and Americana musicians the Bluff City has to offer. The Folklore Hall is located at 119 S. Main Street @ The Peabody Place Trolley Stop in the heart of downtown Memphis.
A minimum donation of $10 is requested, but the organizers of this event hope you will find it in your heart to give even more. Proceeds from ticket sales and donations go to the Red Cross.
