Badu's Back...

Badu is back on the scene with a new album- New Amerykah Pt 2: Return of the Ankh- follow up to New Amerykah Pt 1- scheduled to be released 3/30/10. Part 1 had more of a hip hop vibe to it that seemed to perturb the die-hard fans of her organic, soul lounge feel. I, for one, LOVED IT (being a hip hop head myself). I thought the combined production from 9th Wonder, Madlib, Sa-Ra, and Dilla were amazing...which leads me to me next point. When I heard "Jump In the Air and Stay There"- one of the leaked songs from Pt 2 (I hear she's supposed to leak different tracks/videos from the album at 3:33am/pm of random time zones)- I was happy to see Bilal (who also has a new album due out this year) was a feature, but got kinda nervous about Lil Wayne being on the track. I must admit that the track took a while to grow on me, but I like it now...though I feel the need to be 'already in the air' to watch the video (if you catch my drift).

The official single off the album, "Window Seat", is a whole different story. Badu's usual partners in crime (James Poyser & Questlove) back her on this jewel of a track that's reminiscent of '97 Baduizm... Either way, I'll be the first in line (or online) to buy the new album and I suggest you do the same.
